Baby Update:

No official check up this month but I think she’s probably about 12lbs??

Mom Update:

During the quarantine we have been able to have our trainer from the gym come to our house – we work out in the back yard, spread out and social distanced of course. I’ve loved having some structured active time during nap and I think it’s helped me feel more “back to normal” after having a baby!

Eating:

Sydney is nursing every 3 hours and I top her off with a few ounces of breastmilk in a bottle after her bedtime nursing session. These are the bottles we use. She nurses so fast – like 10 minutes max, but takes almost an hour to take a bottle, it’s like she’s having a leisurely dinner in Europe. I’m tempted to move up the nipple size but I’m scared that will frustrate her while nursing so I may wait and see…

Sleeping:

Sydney started sleeping through the night at around 6-8 weeks. But let me tell you – if you follow Wonder Weeks (the book or app), most of the 3rd month is in a leap. YAY. So that affects sleep a little bit.She is still in her bassinet but in her room. We don’t have a crib for her yet and she still fits so it works like a mini crib! Her bassinet is the Arm’s Reach Co Sleeper in Cambria. I’ve loved it with both kids – doesn’t appear to be on Amazon anymore but I always see them for sale on Facebook!

We also dropped the swaddle this month! With Archer, I switched to the Swaddle UP but since Sydney takes a paci, that knocks her paci right out. SO she’s now in the Merlin suit for now to keep her arms down and that’s working great!

What We Wear:

BABY: She is in 0-3 month clothes – they’re still wide on her but the length is great! Weather is still all over the place so we’re half in warm clothes, half in short rompers and bubbles. Classic Texas. My favorite baby brand is Kissy Kissy so that’s what I put her in most. It is so soft and durable.

MOM: Living in athleisure these days. I’m loving my Lululemon Run Times shorts that I wore all through my pregnancy, they’re obviously loose now but still comfy, not like fall-off-when-you-stand-up big.

Gear We Love:

As a quarantine gift, my sweet mother in law got Sydney the Lovevery toy subscription and she has loved all the toys! Especially the crinkle paper. I’ve got a referral code for $20 off if you end up ordering for your child!

She’s also in the dock a tot a lot when she’s awake, just to have another place to set her.

She rolls from tummy to back and alllllmost back to front.

The Toddler:

Since Sydney is more alert Archer is just enamored with her. He loves it when she smiles at him and looks at him!

Managing the Two:

It’s been a lot with everyone being home! Usually during Sydney’s naps I get some alone time while Archer is at school but not anymore. She’s a fairly calm child so it hasn’t been total chaos when she’s awake which is great!

Fun things that Happened:

Well, we were supposed to go to the beach before the quarantine but we played it safe and stayed here and I’m so glad we did! For plan B, we stayed at Rough Creek Lodge in Glen Rose, TX for a few days with Roberts family. It was rainy the whole time but nice to get away for a little bit!

And most exciting of all, my sister had her baby! We obviously weren’t able to be at the hospital or even meet him in person. We got a drive by introduction however!!

Blue for Baby Boy Johnson!!

Sydney also got to celebrate her first Easter! We stayed home obviously but had brunch brought to us by my sweet family.

Lessons I’ve Learned:

  • I worry about my children first. When all of this Covid news broke, I didn’t think about myself, I thought about my children which is obviously instinctual but I put myself on the back burner even in hypothetical situations!
